What BANCAT does:
Since its inception in 2019, Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust (BANCAT) has been a beacon of hope for cancer patients across Bangladesh, having supported over 2000 underprivileged individuals. With a focus on three core pillars – the Alok Nibash Cancer Care Center, Awareness Events, and Financial/Medical Assistance – BANCAT is committed to revolutionizing cancer care in the country. By providing comprehensive support and empowerment to patients, BANCAT has made a significant impact on Bangladesh's fight against cancer. Through funding for medical treatments and holistic care initiatives, BANCAT aims to raise awareness and provide direct support to those in need within the cancer community, underscoring its dedication to fostering a cancer-free society in Bangladesh.
How does BANCAT work:
BANCAT's cancer community development in Bangladesh focuses on three core areas.
"Nationwide Cancer Awareness" targets youths, professionals, and rural communities through roadshows and awareness sessions, seeking collaboration with educational institutions and corporations.
The "Holistic Care for Underprivileged Cancer Patients" revolves around Alok Nibash, a 74-bed cancer care center providing comprehensive support with plans for a 250-bed cancer care center requiring funding from various sources.
"Mental Wellness of the Cancer Community" addresses mental health support through Alokon, funded by corporate CSR initiatives and individual contributions, aiming to create a supportive environment for the entire cancer community in Bangladesh.
Why BANCAT does what it does:
The genesis of BANCAT started with one individual – a cancer survivor. It was during his own treatment that he realised the prevalence of this silent killer in Bangladesh, how oblivious people were to this scourge, and the sheer lack of awareness, policy, and resources that were allocated towards cancer treatments. Yet, there is hardly a family that hasn’t experienced a death from cancer. The survivor – having been given a second chance in his life – made it his life’s mission to change this landscape. He thus, set out to form BANCAT – an organization solely dedicated to fight cancer in all avenues.
BANCAT believes that we all are born with the ability to change someone’s life and hence our motto: it takes one to save one. Let BANCAT be the bridge between YOU and cancer patients in need of you.
