What BANCAT Durbar Does:

BANCAT Durbar, the youth segment of Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust, comprises over 2000 volunteers, mainly college and university students, dedicated to nationwide cancer awareness. Through initiatives like informative sessions, seminars, and medical camps, BANCAT Durbar educates communities about cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Its specialized campaigns, including the Iftar Campaign, Winter Campaign, and Cricket for Cancer, further contribute to spreading awareness and fulfilling the overarching mission of Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust.

How does BANCAT Durbar work?

Cancer has been the source of many people in Bangladesh being deprived of a normal, healthy life. Thousands of people suffer from cancer on a yearly basis and the impact it’s had on their family is unfortunate and undeserved.

BANCAT Durbar believes that the path to breaking this horrible stereotype that envelopes cancer victims and their families is through creating a culture change with youth as the catalyst. Each of its activities are dedicated towards generating support from multiple facets to break the mold on the community’s perception regarding cancer.

BANCAT Durbar strives to work largely with the youth through activities which focuses on aspects of cancer and helps to break the stigma regarding it. Eventually, it will strive towards creating a Bangladesh that is more sympathetic and accepting towards cancer fighters and actively supports them to overcome it.

Why BANCAT Dubar Does What It Does:

The birth of BANCAT Durbar started in a small room with a table, a few chairs, and 6 individuals. It was during their time serving in BANCAT where they were exposed to the true face of cancer and realized the lack of knowledge that was evident among the masses. Moreover, the lack of resources and support was even more staggering. Therefore, they realized that if change was necessary, it had to start with them, the youth. By educating the hopefuls of today, the pioneers of tomorrow can work towards creating a more accepting community towards cancer.

BANCAT Youth believes that working with the youth will be the driving force towards a better future for cancer patients. Therefore, it serves as the gatekeeper between the young generation and the individuals plagued by cancer.
